H.3034, the K9 Protection bill, received second reading in the Senate.
The bill strengthens protections for law enforcement K9s and horses by expanding prohibited conduct, increasing criminal penalties, and requiring restitution to agencies for the full cost of replacing or treating these animals. It also includes a line of duty benefit to support agencies when a K9 is injured or killed in service.
