Recognition from the people who work beside you carries a special meaning. Congratulations to the North Augusta Public Safety officers and first responders selected by their peers for this recognition.
The North Augusta Chamber of Commerce held the second annual first responders breakfast to honor the men and women who work at North Augusta Department of Public Safety Sept. 10.
Congratulations to Dillon Police Lance Cpl. Jordan Upton on being named First Responder of the Year. After being shot in the line of duty earlier this year, he recovered and returned to the job. Well deserved.
Upton was shot in the line of duty while attempting to serve a warrant. He was able to make a full recovery and returned back to work.

Thirty years in law enforcement deserves a round of applause.
Congratulations to Mount Pleasant Police Department Deputy Chief Pat Carter on three decades of serving his community, leading fellow officers, and helping develop the next generation of law enforcement.
And congratulations to his wife, Wendy, whose support and sacrifices have been part of that journey from the beginning.
Rounds of applause were in order in celebrating Mount Pleasant Deputy Chief Pat Carter’s 30 years of loyalty and service to the community at the Sept. 8 town council meeting.
Job well done by City of Aiken, South Carolina Government Department of Public Safety and the law enforcement agencies that responded alongside them.
Their officers handled a dangerous situation, worked together, and brought it to a close without anyone being injured. They deserve the recognition they received.
Law enforcement officers were recognized by the City of Aiken for their response to a shooting incident at Aiken Regional Medical Centers on Aug. 25.
