We’re thankful for his recovery and continue to urge every driver to obey South Carolina’s Move Over law. Slowing down and moving over saves lives.

Today, we remember Union County Sheriff’s Office J. Hay Fant and Marlboro County Rural Police Commission Officer Henry Marvin Stanfield.

On this date in 1921, Sheriff Fant was accidentally shot and killed while arresting a man for disposing of property under lien.

On this date in 1928, Officer Stanfield was shot and killed while searching for an automobile thief fugitive.
